By developing a vast toolkit of post processing capabilities, defined here as what you can do with an image once you get it into the computer and how it can be further enhanced in the printing process and by the choice of paper Tony has total control. He is not limited by what the camera can produce. Today image quality is also influenced by the fact that one can easily make 50 shots of the same image, trying this and that. This gives you more chances to get a it right. I've seem him make interesting art from out of focus images, take a scene that was dull and flat and bring it life. It is amazing how different the blacks come out on different papers. Sometimes what looks just okay on the screen is spectacular when printed.
