About this image
This morning as I walked past the living room gallery the butterfly displayed on the wall caught my eye. It is cold and very overcast today. The room is not filled with sunlight as it usually is most mornings. And yet the butterfly was truly glowing. Glowing so much that it made me stop and look. And more importantly, it made me feel hopeful.
Musings of a muse
I love Tony's art. Yes I am biased but he has moved to a new level. He always strives to make something interesting, but he is now making images that will touch you as well. This is really fantastic news. Everyone loves Van Gogh in large part because you can feel him when you look at his work. It touches you. And now you can feel the emotion in Tony's work too.
Tony, while very outspoken and extremely knowledgeable, is also a very private person. He keeps his real feelings inside most of the time. For me this is part of his charm. He has an enormous tenderness that most people never see.
I think this new dimension to his work is in due in part to what is happening in the world. We are frightened, but hopeful about the future. The uncertainty is unnerving. We smile and work on our confidence. Our emotions are just under the surface. Tony is focusing like a laser beam, working on unleashing the images he sees with his minds eye. He is using an enormous amount of discipline and focus. He's escaping into his art.
The other day I was reading about the future of Journalism. The piece discussed the impact technology is having on newspapers. Well guess what technology is having a huge impact on art. What Tony Karp is doing is using technology not only to create his art but also to display and distribute it around the world. It is the future come to the present.
A note to the viewer. This is one of those images that is at its best seen from afar. MOVE BACK FROM THE COMPUTER SCREEN - YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN
